On June 11, 2006 we were blessed with the participation of the Plymouth Festival Ringers in our worship service. This group of youth from Plymouth Congregational Church UCC of Lawrence, Kansas are unbelievable! You can find out more about them at their website. We have a great connection with the Plymouth church, as Senior Pastor Peter Luckey used to be an associate pastor of our church! The Brad Fisher Memorial Handbell Choirs at Plymouth Congregational Church have been around since 1974. The bells were donated by Chuck and Erma Fisher in memory of their son, Brad. There are a total of 6 bell choirs, the youngest members being 6th graders. The Plymouth Ringers, which consists of high school and college students, tour nationally and internationally every summer! The directors are Bill & Barbara Kelly.
Here are some of their comments of their visit here: "We went to Naperville, IL. and set up for our Sunday church service ring. All of my home stays have been great, tonight a bunch of the families took us to get ice cream! Everyone has been so nice and they seem to have liked what we played in our concerts." ~Jennifer U. "We went to Naperville on Saturday June 10th and met our hosts. Our host took us on a tour of the downtown Naperville Riverwalk. It was beautiful! On Sunday, our church ring was great, the highlight of which was "How Great Thou Art". We played while the pastor gave a prayer, it was awesome. We'll have to try that at Plymouth. Our hosts were very nice and sent us on our way with great sack lunches." ~Bill Kelly, Director. |
