Guest Steward Rev. Dr. Jane Fisler Hoffman Sunday October 22

This Sunday, our congregation had the privilege of hearing the sermon from our Guest Steward, Rev. Dr. Jane Fisler Hoffman. She has served as the Illinois Conference Minister since March of 2000. The Illinois Conference consists of five associations, including our own Fox Valley Association, and is composed of 293 congregations. Rev. Fisler Hoffman is a graduate of Eden Theological Seminary. She has served as pastor in two local churches and as an Associate Conference Minister in the Ohio Conference before joining the Illinois Conference. She is married to her husband of 39 years, Milt, and she has 2 children and 5 grandchildren.

Rev. Fisler Hoffman has been involved in a wide variety of efforts to support the UCC’s mission of promoting social justice. She has been a part of efforts to promote peace and justice in the Sudan, interfaith efforts for refugee and immigrant ministries, the international campaign to ban land mines, and full marriage equity regardless of gender. She is also involved with the Chicago Metropolitan Association of the Illinois Conference which includes a cluster of six churches in Chicago and the near suburbs. Rev. Fisler Hoffman has also written on how to promote church vitality.

As we focus on our own church’s stewardship efforts, it is important to keep in mind the scope of the activities that the UCC embraces on the local, national, and global level. Rev. Fisler Hoffman has been involved in all promoting the work of UCC congregations at all three levels. Given her hectic schedule (she is still in the process of visiting all of the 293 churches in the Illinois Conference); we are truly honored to have her share in our worship this Sunday. Please join us in welcoming her this Sunday.
