“Shout out, do not hold back! Lift up your voice like a trumpet!” Isaiah 58:1

What:  Adult Forum on Faith and the Issues:  Local, National, Global

When:  October 3, 10, 17, 24 @ 11 AM

Where:  Fireside Room

Why:  The faith community is desperately needed to raise ethical issues in a nation divided by campaign rhetoric that is already deeply entrenched and polarized.

Who: The first three sessions: YOU! (Facilitated by Diane Herr*, Church Moderator and President of Progressive Christian Resources). The last session will be led by Larry Greenfield, Theologian-in-Residence at Protestants for the Common Good.

Format: We will examine Bible passages that reflect on the issues of today.  We will discuss what issues are important in this day and time.  We will reflect on how our faith has bearing on the issues.  We will also look at the UCC's, National Council of Churches' and Sojourners' statements on the issues.

* Diane Herr has been a member of First Congregational Church UCC of Naperville, IL for more than 25 years. She has participated on many boards, ministries and served as moderator. She has designed and led adult education classes on Women in Church History, Women in the Bible, Mary the Feminine Face of the Church, The Marian Traditions, Meditations for Thoughtful Leaders, Same Sex Marriage, and the Mary Magdalene Mysteries. Her goal is to synthesize the work of scholars for discussion by session participants.

Diane is currently a consultant to small businesses, with her husband Bill, after surviving life as a corporate executive in Telecommunications. She has an MBA from Stanford and degrees in Computer Engineering. She has designed courses on Leadership, Career Development, Thriving on Change, Decision Making and Valuing Diversity.
