There's a lot of tension around discussing politics in church.  Some believe that words about the issues are not appropriate from the pulpit.  Our church has a history of confronting social justice issues and speaking our minds about what is going on in the world.

There are laws about what nonprofit organizations, such as churches, can discuss.  Here are some examples:

bulletDiscuss issues not candidates
bulletHold candidate forums allowing equal access to audience
bulletNo church wide endorsement of candidates
bulletNo church wide contributions to political candidates

We have reviewed guidelines and are assured that we design our programs to comply. They are energetic, enlightening and relevant!
