The foundation that supports these candidate forums:
 |
We are people of faith |
 |
We are in a collaborative effort |
 |
We know this is not worship or religious activity,
we are modeling how to work together |
 |
AND we are modeling that people of faith have a
place and a role in the public arena....and how we can engage in that activity
within a diverse community of people in ways that are positive, respectful and
integrity filled. |
The diversity of the collaboration calls us all to be inclusive in our
language and we are working together within this inclusive framework.
 |
How we speak of the entire
collaboration: The terms "communities of faith," "faith communities,"
"people of faith" include all participants. We do not speak of "churches" or
"congregations" when we are speaking of the entire collaboration.
|
 |
How we speak of the
collection of individuals in the collaboration: "leaders of__,"
"representatives for__," "spokespersons for__," "members of __" include all
participants. We do not speak of the "ministers" or "pastors" of the
collaboration when referring to the entire group. Some of the participants
hold official roles and titles such as reverend, pastor, or rabbi but there
are others who do not hold these titles. |
 |
How we view this
collaborative effort: We are people of faith coming from various
religious traditions in leadership and representative roles collaborating to
create a secular event. We are not confusing the senatorial forums with
worship or religious activity. We are taking a stand as a nonpartisan
collective, as leaders modeling how people of faith can work together. |
