Advancing God’s Love and Justice

Greetings Friends,
I wanted to make sure you all know what’s happening in the upcoming week for special Advent and Christmas Eve services.

First, our annual Christmas Pageant is this coming Sunday, December 17 at our normal worship time, 10:00 a.m. Our fearless director, Cheryl Newman has, as usual, outdone herself, and it promises to be yet again a fantastic production. This year, they’re condensing the book “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” into a (roughly) 20-minute production. And there’s also a cameo from yours truly, playing Rev. Hopkins. (It’s a real stretch for me to play a pastor.)

As you may have noticed, Christmas Eve is happening on a Sunday this year. So we will have our normal 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning service. It will be a little more relaxed than a usual Sunday. There won’t be a sermon, but I am looking forward to reading a story to the children, and we’ll also sing a few extra Christmas Carols. I promise we’ll have you out in plenty of time for any last-minute shopping you need to do!

The evening service will be our traditional service of Lessons and Carols. We’ll read seven lessons, and between the congregation, choir, and a few other guest musicians, we’ll intersperse music throughout the readings. After the Christmas Message, we’ll sing “Silent Night” while lighting candles. It truly is one of the most beautiful services we have throughout the year.

I hope to see you at any or all of these services, with whatever family or friends might be in town!

Many blessings to you all,
Mark
