The Rev. Katie Morrison is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA). She has worked for several churches and non-profit organizations and has considerable experience ministering with youth and young adults. She is also a trained graphic designer and illustrator. Katie is a native Californian. She grew up in Southern California where she learned to love both the ocean and the mountains (as well as the sun). Katie is a graduate of Colby College, a small liberal arts school in Maine, where she majored in American Studies and Studio Art. She earned her M.Div. at San Francisco Theological Seminary and since then has embraced the Bay Area as home.

While Katie has maintained a deep commitment to the denomination of her youth, she is not comfortable with its exclusive stance against the ordination of openly gay and lesbian persons of faith.

As a result, Katie has explored and fallen in love with the United Church of Christ. She declared, “As one who traveled across the country doing diversity education and working to help churches become more welcoming, I didn’t know that I was in such need of the kind of welcome the UCC has extended through the ‘God Is Still Speaking’ campaign and other genuinely inclusive witnesses.” She is a new convert to the UCC and on November 17, 2005 she received full standing in the UCC.
