During our Stewardship campaign, members are encouraged to ponder the gifts we are given and how we can respond to God through the work of our church. The following thoughts were shared on Consecration Sunday: I am grateful to be part of this church body because... "Of the love and acceptance I feel from the people around me." "Of the giving of our church to others. " "We reach out to our community and beyond to help those in need." "We support each other, strengthening ourselves to do more for others." "Our gatherings reset my position on my journey." "Of the spirit of love and peace that permeates this church. Though friends and colleagues may come and go, the spirit and enriching joy that is First Congregational UCC transcends." "It’s the most caring group of people I’ve ever come into contact with. Everyone takes a genuine interest and concern in the lives of others, both within and outside our worship community. We are not a church that sits back. Our church is the people. We set things in action." I am grateful to be part of this church body because... It’s wonderful to see all the young people here, especially when they participate in the service. "Of the welcoming nature of the members and the warm embraces." "Of the challenges presented to me during worship that help to further my faith." "Of the opportunities to participate in meaningful activities that make a difference in the wider community." "No matter how long we are away and not able to attend, the church makes us welcome when we come." "Of the giving and receiving of all of God’s love as expressed by our membership." "It nourishes all my parts." "It enriches my life with friendships, it enables my worship experiences, it allows me to sing, it allows me to praise God in many different ways, it keeps me humble, it gives me many ways to serve and give to God." I am grateful to be part of this church body because... "Of the caring, giving and supportive people I’ve met. I’m thankful that I can give back a small part of myself by participating in Gospel choir." "We have a caring, humble, theologically knowledgeable minister who gives us so much of himself." "We have a marvelously talented congregation who share their talents so freely." "I am inspired by many of our Pastor’s sermons." "Of the many friendships I’ve made while serving on various ministries and helping move Christ’s love and justice forward in this world." "Of the experiences/learning I’ve had through adult education." "Our Pastor’s friendship." "I believe it is a place for selfless giving in a sometimes selfish community, and because it amplifies our individual gifts." |
