Adopted at the 126th Annual Meeting of First Congregational Church of Naperville, January 16, 1997

In Christ, we the members of the First Congregational Church of Naperville are called together as a community of unconditional love to provide spiritual nourishment, to share God's love through active service within and beyond our church community, and to be responsive to the needs of our ever-changing world.

We are called to love one another as God loves us, freely and without reservation. Our unconditional love is inclusive of all God's people. We denounce acts of discrimination and violence against any person.

We celebrate the family in all its diverse forms, and honor all loving and committed relationships.

We welcome all people into our community of faith, regardless of age, gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, ethnic background, socioeconomic status, or physical/mental abilities. Each person is invited and encouraged to participate in all aspects of our church life and ministry.

Therefore, we the members of the First Congregational Church of Naperville declare ourselves to be an Open and Affirming Church in response to the recommendation of the Fifteenth General Synod of the United Church of Christ, July 2, 1985.
