Music with a Mission – Featuring Lydia Chinchilla on flute
Sun, June 1 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
MwaM’s next performance will feature the very talented Lydia Chinchilla on flute. Lydia graduated from the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music in 2022 and has since won many awards and accolades, including an invitation to play at Carnegie Hall. She is currently an instructor, educator, and performer in the Chicagoland area.
Lydia’s program will cover a wide selection of works from the Baroque to the 20th century and will include composers such as Bach, Francis Poulenc, Carl Reinecke, and Valerie Coleman. When asked what audience members should expect Lydia said, “The program will showcase the versatile nature of the flute, bringing to life its ability to perform music with extended techniques beyond what is expected of the instrument, such as flutter tonguing, pitch bends, and singing and playing. I’ll share some of my favorite performed works, as well as some new ones.”
A goodwill offering from this free performance will benefit Accelerate Climate Solutions, a non-profit organization based in Naperville that helps the community access the resources needed to become more sustainable and combat climate change.
